On September 17, we all headed to church for Wednesday Family Night. The kids will be in AWANA in Cubbies, that is for three and four year olds. Hailey and Ez are in the same group. I have a feeling that I will be a really "smart" mom and I am sure you are wondering why I am saying that. Well, when I was in AWANA in elementary school, I was sick and tired of memorizing verses every week and obviously I didn't see the importance of it. I decided to forge the name of my leaders signature in my Sparky's book. When I went back to AWANA, with excitement that I had finished my book, my leader seemed confused. Apparently, my forgery wasn't as good as I thought. After a long visit with the pastor, I learned quite a valuable lesson. I understood the importance of not forging, obviously, and the importance of working hard to learn something, to complete or finish a task. I have to giggle a little bit each time when I see an elementary student run by me with their Sparky's book in hand and yet I am reminded of what I learned too.
Ezra is a model and his first (and only) job has been to be featured in the sign that reminds parents to pick their kids up on time after AWANA and bible studies end on Wednesday night. It was funny because I had to take a double look when I saw it the first time. By the way, he offered his adorable face for free. :)
Each week, Hailey and Ezzie and I read the Cubbie story and memorize our verse together. It has been a wonderful family experience and I love that the kids are leaning about bible stories and memorizing scripture. Cubbies is the perfect environment for Hailey and Ezzie to learn about God. As the kids are in Cubbies class, I attend a bible study on parenting and I really enjoy it. It is giving me some great ideas and wisdom, plus I am meeting some young couples from our church. Each week, we have the opportunity to share what works for us and ask for ideas. It has been so helpful to know I am not alone and that other parents have awesome ideas I can share. I am SO thankful for our church!
