This afternoon, when I got done with work, the kids and I drove to my friend Carrie's house. Carrie and I have known each other for nine years now. It sure seems like yesterday when I was introduced to Carrie Fredstrom at Chisago Lakes Primary School as my mentor for my first year of teaching. She instantly became a fabulous friend and mentor. I have to say that to this day, I have never worked so well with someone else. We use to meet every week to plan our lessons and we were good. We could bounce ideas off of each other and we cam up with awesome lessons for our students. Carrie was also by my side on the day I found out my student, Calvin, had passed away. She not only walked me through that difficult situation at school, she supported me by going with me to his funeral. She has ALWAYS been honest, open, and forthright with me and although I don't always listen to her advice when I should (Carr, you know what I am talking about) I find out later that perhaps she was right all along. She never says, "I told you so." She continues to be a strong support for me as I go through life and encounter a variety of situations. We may not get together every week or talk everyday, but when we do hang out it is like we were never apart. I took for granted being able to see her every day of the week for three years as teaching partners. Now I cherish the time we can spend together with our kids. Carrie's husband, Erick, always has me in stitches and has been fabulous to both me and my kids. As our kids get older they are starting to argue, tattle, and whine (AHHHH), but we both try to stay calm as we resolve any issues and try to keep talking and catching up. Carrie is so special and I love her friendship. I hope that someday I can marry my best friend and be parents together, like Carrie and Erick. We have such a great time whenever we spend the day at the Fredstrom house. We love you guys!
P.S. By the way, as you can see in the pictures-Ezra was taught how to "cheat" the machine by Carter. :)
