You know God never said our families would be perfect. Actually, as I get older I am starting to understand (I think) why we all are a bit dysfunctional. God is able to continuously bring us to him as we try to figure out issues in life and learn from them. I have to say that I go to God a lot when it comes to family. I am very thankful for the family God gave to me. When I was younger I would often wish I had another family, meaning one without dysfunction. (Does that even exist?) My dad told me this story,"If you and all your friends put your lives in a box, wrap them up, and put them in a circle. It is most likely that you would grab your life back. Because when you truly look at the "real" lives of those around you, you would rather have what you know and can expect." That story continues to stick with me today. I would not be the person I am today, if I hadn't lived the life I did. I am good at things because of what I did in my life. So, duh, God really does have a plan and knows exactly what he is doing. All this to say, that I have the best brother in the world. We aren't the same and we don't always agree on everything, but he has a heart of gold. My brother would be there for me if I ever needed him and I appreciate who he is and the way he loves his family. Kyla, my sister in law, is such a blessing. I could not have picked a better wife for Ben. She has the most caring heart and loves my kids. She is willing to help out when she can and stays involved in my life. Ben and Kyla support me and my kids where we are and I am so thankful for that. My mom and I have a relationship that is like a wave. Sometimes the waves can be calm and sometimes they can be rough. Waves never stop coming to shore and renewing the beach, but the waves have boundaries for how far they can roll in. The waves bring in beautiful things that we can discover and admire. My mom and I love each other so much and work hard on our relationship. She gives so much of her heart to me and my kids. She values the time we spend with her and tries her best to help in whatever way she possibly can. Hailey and Ezra are the BEST things that have ever happened in my life! God knew what he was doing when he put these angles in my life. They always teach me and help make me a better mom and person. I haven't even started to mention my dad, Heather, and Sam. Maybe another post!
